NON-SURGICAL
FACIAL REJUVENATION
In addition to surgical treatment of the aging face, many non-surgical methods are now available. These can be used alone, enabling patients to look younger and more refreshed, or in combination with surgery.
Chemical peels Dr. Rock performs the VI peelTM, which offers terrific results in less than a week, with minimal discomfort. The peel is effective at improving the tone, texture and clarity of your skin, reducing or eliminating age spots, freckles and increased pigmentation (including melasma), and softening lines and wrinkles. It may also improve acne skin conditions and stimulate the production of collagen for firmer, more youthful skin. For more information, including before/after photos click here
Injectable fillers are used to restore volume and fullness for the correction of deeper folds and wrinkles, as well as to provide fullness and contour to the lips. Juvederm® is an example of an injectable filler made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin. Results are immediate and can last up to one year. Recently FDA approved for cosmetic use, Sculptra® Aesthetic is an injectable material (poly-L-lactic acid) that can be used to restore lost volume in the face. The material, which is biocompatible (does not harm the body) and biodegradable (broken down by the body), stimulates the production of collagen. Treatment usually requires a series of 2 - 3 sessions, spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart. The result is a longer lasting (at least two years) restoration of volume.
Botox® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is injected locally into areas of the face to paralyze specific muscles. It is most commonly used to treat the forehead, glabella (the area between the eyebrows), and crow's feet (wrinkles around the outer corners of the eyes), though it is also occasionally used in other areas of the face - for example, to elevate the outer portions of the eyebrows.
Injectable fillers and Botox are not interchangable. They perform different functions, and may be used separately or in combination.
