BODY CONTOURING AFTER WEIGHT LOSS

Body contouring after large weight loss (most commonly after gastic bypass or banding procedures) is one of the most rapidly advancing areas in plastic surgery. The surgical procedures utilized are designed to remove the excess hanging skin and fat which frequently result from significant weight loss and which do not respond to any other forms of treatment.

General information:

  • Purpose:  To remove excess hanging skin and fat

  • Length of surgery: varies, depending on areas being treated

  • Anesthesia:  General

  • Common treatment areas:
      Arms (brachioplasty)
      Breasts (mastopexy)
      Abdomen (abdominoplasty or panniculectomy)
Buttocks / thighs (lower body lift / buttock lift / medial (inner)
          thigh lift)

  • Recovery:  Varies depending on procedure.
